We cannot believe that April is already here. Time
flies when you’re having fun!!! Spring has made it to
Chihuahua and all the fruit trees are in bloom. There was not much of a winter
this year with no snow whatsoever. The dry season has started unusually early thus increasing the ever present need for water. Many families have been feeling the effects of this, in a little community just
outside of town, they only receive water on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a couple of hours if they are lucky, a little more on Saturday. Everyone pray that they get rain soon.
The family is fine, we all made it through winter with no one getting sick or anything. We have noticed in
Mexico that no one gets the flu or other common American sicknesses as much. To the right Melena is showing off her new braces and a little friend from Apachochi. We were so blessed to find a good dentist
that the girls felt comfortable with. It is unbelievable how much less it costs to have dental and medical services done here than in the states.
Last month we were contacted by the Knapps, a family from the
Dallas area wanting to know more about the ministry we are doing
in Mexico. They decided to visit for a week in March getting to know
the area. They also were able to go to Apachochi for a children’s outreach. They would like to come back in the near future on a more
permanent basis to work. Since they both work by using the Internet, it wouldn't be a problem for them. To the left is a picture of Matt and Renee with their three children when we took them with us to a children’s
ministry in the
village of
Apachochi.
The Friday night youth meetings are going great. Last month there was a bonfire / marshmallow roast for everyone and the kids
from the YWAM base also. Below to the right is a picture showing everyone enjoying a time of fellowship and fun. It was at this bonfire I fell and severely
sprained
my ankle. We had the fire out near the edge of the cliff over looking Creel. I was going to walk over near the edge of the cliff to get a better look, not seeing a large crevice in the dark. I stepped into it and went completely of sight
landing on my left ankle. It was a miracle I didn't break it! It has taken me over two weeks to get over it, but now I am walking without any pain and almost no swelling at all.
We thank everyone for praying with us concerning the possibility of a missions store and networking with another ministry. After
several months of praying about this and dealings with the people involved, we have decided that this partnership would not be in our best interest. We still have full access
to the piece of property that was designated for the store to do with as we please, either a mission’s warehouse, small base or whatever we would like to do with it. This would be a great opportunity for a work
group to come down and help construct something. Pray with us that we use Godly wisdom in this matter.
Everyone is excited about the many groups coming this summer to
help with several projects, on go
ing and some new ones also. Dates are filling up fast, so if anyone is interested in going, please let us know soon. Last month there
was a fact finding team from
Extreme Missionary Adventures to meet and plan for future group trips down to work in this area. Tim and I took them to where there are projects
ongoing to give them an idea of what is being done. To the left is a picture of Tim and I and the guys from XMA. They are planning on bringing a group at the end of July.
