July-August News Update

  Hello everyone,

The past couple of weeks have been pretty busy because of two different groups during this time to do outreaches for the Tarahumara Indians. The first group was one from in Mexico made up of The Assemblies of God and a group of 20 Tarahumara women - 100 people in all. The next group was from Midland, Tx and from West Monroe, La - around 20 in all. We had the opportunity of serving these people each day all their meals. This was made possible by an awesome person that God brought into our lives. Once again God has amazed all of us by giving us more than we asked for by providing a Christian man and family that owns a hotel made up of several cabins and a restaurant on the edge of town here in Creel. As a lot of you may know we all have been praying for a better place to stay away from the noise and traffic and especially to get out from behind the bar that. The man who owns and runs the motel has offered to rent us the large group cabin there on the property. It will provide us with the space we need for parking, privacy, no noise and a great safe place for the kids to play. The hotel will also be the best place to house all the groups that come down to do outreaches. We have also been given full access to a professional kitchen, dining and conference area.

Here are two pictures of the house we will be moving into very soon.

Tim Sciuttto, a professional chef for 30 years - now missionary, is shown above left doing what he does best.

Carlos Portillo jr, the owner's son and Shelly are seen serving the food above.

Some of the Tarahumara women are shown above eating. Tim and Cheryl's children as well as ours got a good lesson on

serving others during this time. Above right,  Melena is busy carrying empty plates back to the kitchen.

Tony Diaz, Marcos Mancinas and I are shown here at the water source for the village of Huisarochi. After finding our webpage on the Internet, Tony contacted us interested in the water ministry work we are doing here in the mountains, he and his son Carlton made plans to come down with the group from Midland. The other picture shows Tim, Tony and Marcos placing rocks into the cement. Charlton and Marcos' son can be seen mixing cement in the background.

We have a praise to report. As a result of the team going out into a couple villages to minister, there were 3 salvations! The team went out two days in a row to two different villages and had a time of devotion and time to play with the children of each village. One afternoon we were able to take our film equipment and show a children's Bible story movie to them and they had the best time.

Keep us in your prayers. We have a few days to rest up before I go to the Canyon village of Guacaivo again with the Montana group. I will be overseeing the water system for the Alberge located there. There will also be a group here from Tim and Cheryl's church in Idaho.

Onor u'ami micuirsa (God Bless You, in Tarahumara)

Blessings to all of you,

Church of the Crossroads missionaries
