Water well project in Choguita.

We are drilling a well using a manual / water-jet method I have developed simply because we do not have a rotary powered drilling rig. This method of drilling a well is an inexpensive alternative compared to the costs involved with a large trailer / truck mounted rig. This system works great provided you do not encounter any rock. The depth you can go will depend on the size of your mud pump, tripod strength, pulley strength and the number of people you have to help pull the rope. The pump is a homemade design with parts easily found at any hardware store. This team included Joe Wells, Mike Green, Shawn Nelms and myself, Ryan Maness. We completed this project in November of 2007.

* Update 2010. This well was drilled for a school a pastor was building to train Christian Tarahumara Indians to go and minister to their own people. For almost three years now the facility still sits empty and is only used when visiting church groups come and need a place to sleep. The well has been neglected and can no longer be used. This is a sad situation because we were asked numerous times to come and do this project because the school needed the water.
