The rains have started to let up a little giving us opportunity to start work again on the Tarahumara outreach water project for the Indian village of Huisarochi. The group from Midland, Texas has been here this week. Among them was Tony Diaz and his son Carlton from West Monroe, La. They found us on the internet and were interested in the ministry work we are doing in the mountains. I knew that the group from Midland was wanting to come down around the same time as they were, so I just put them in contact with each other and they were able to all come down together. Tony's son Carlton has a calling on his life to work with the Mexican-Indian people. He may be able to come down next summer and do an "internship".

We had not been up to where the spring is located since before our June trip home and after all the rains, the road needed to be repaired in several places just for us to be able to pass.

Some of the previous work we had done to clean out the spring area had to be redone before we could begin work. Tim Scuitto and Tony Diaz are shown here preparing the area where the dam will be built.

Because someone decided to steal the drain pipe off my front porch which I had to make special for this project, I was forced to make another there on the spot . What made this really frustrating is that galvanized water pipe is unavailable in this area and I had spent a couple of weeks just looking for a scrap 2" x 36" piece of water pipe. The picture above shows the finished pipe before we cemented it into the dam.

We were able to complete about half the height of the dam the full length of the area we needed to span. The picture above shows Tim, Tony and Marcos carefully placing the rock into the cement. We will only need another day's work to finish the reservoir. We will however need to spend a day gathering more rock for the dam.

There will be a group from the Calvary Chapel Church Association here the first full week of May 2009. We look forward to meeting and working with them.
