Hello Everyone,
This will be our first newsletter for 2010. Our family enjoyed the time home with our
families for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The time flew by, but we were ready to get back to work here in the
mountains and to see the people here that have become just like family.
God continues to bless the work in the village of Yaguirachi by bringing more people to the services. We had more than
forty children at last Saturday’s outreach. They are learning about Jesus and what he taught the disciples through Bible lessons, skits, puppet shows and coloring pages. We have recently started feeding them more
than just cookies and Cool-Aid during our weekly outreaches because these children do not get to eat three times a day.
The building we were supposed to start using to have the children’s church in didn’t work out. We are thanking God that
we have had good weather every Saturday. One man in the village has offered to let us use a small piece of land to put up a small shelter to have children’s church when it is raining, snowing or too cold to have it outside. We are praying for
God to give us wisdom concerning this decision.
We are averaging around 10-15 adult men each
Saturday, which is very unusual. The men usually are working or drinking on Saturday, but the men that are coming seem very interested and are now participating in the small devotionals that Pablo and I are sharing with them. We have been
teaching them the parables of Jesus and how he used common subjects to teach profound issues, things these men can relate to like planting, harvesting and things they face everyday.
The women of the village have also really taken an interest in fellowshipping with us. Adriana and Shelly have
started an embroidering class with them which they just love. They like to stay busy and are always working with their hands either making baskets or some type of crafts to sell so they can have a little money to buy the things they can’t
grow or make themselves.
This coming week we are expecting one of the Canadian men and his family that came down to meet us in November of last
year. His organization is now in the process of getting the drilling rig, support truck and equipment imported into Mexico. This can take a long time, so everyone pray that this would be taken care of in a timely manner.
Next month we will be hosting a group from Extreme Missionary Adventures. They are sending a team down to help us
finish an ongoing water project for the village of Huisarochi. Pray for our safety because it was in this mountain village that a local drug lord was killed bout a year
and a half ago.
Because of the rugged mountain roads that we travel in and out of to get to the villages, good tires are essential.
Pablo and I are seen here repairing a punctured tire. This is just another example of what your donations go toward, the maintenance and repair of our vehicles.
Be sure to check the webpage for new
pictures and updates.
We want to thank
all of you for your continued support and prayers. Remember, you may not be able to go yourself, but your donations are helping others to go out into the “Highways and Hedges…” Luke 14:23.
