I just wanted to
give you all an update on Monica's doctors visit. We
were basically blind sided by what we were told by
the doctor. Our original purpose for the visit was
to have her spine x-rayed to check the curvature. We
had that done and the x-ray showed that the degree
was the same and had not changed. We were told that
surgery was an option to straighten it.
While we were there
I mentioned to the doctor that she had been having
problems with her left knee. About a year ago it had
started popping out of place and swelling. She would
have to pop it back into place and it would swell
and bruise her. I mentioned it to the doctor
thinking that it might have something to do with her
scoliosis. They ordered some x-rays to be done on
both of her knees. What they saw was amazing and
such a surprise that I think we're all still in
shock.
Basically what the
doctor told us was that both of her knee caps are
not positioned where they're suppose to be. They
don't cover the joints in her knees like there
supposed to. They were more concerned with her knees
than her back. We were told that this was something
that she was born with and that it would only get
worse over time the older she gets. They were very
adamant about her having surgery as soon as
possible. We talked about it with the doctor and she
is going to have surgery on her left knee on April
30th in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The surgery will
take an hour and a half, she will be in the hospital
for four days. She will be put in a full leg cast
for six weeks and then she'll have to do
rehabilitation. They will want to do surgery at a
later time on her other knee. They didn't want to do
both at the same time, because that would put her in
a wheelchair for quite awhile.
Please keep us in
your prayers and especially Monica, it just seems
like she is really being attacked right now.
