  You can help...

The photos above are a site all too common here in the mountains. You have a stagnant water source that a village gets it's water from. The children you see in the picture in the upper right are at the other end of the pipe that comes from the water source on the left. Elevated mortality rates for infants and the  elderly and water related illnesses are the result of drinking polluted surface water. I have experienced first hand the effects of drinking unclean water with a case of dysentery that left me twenty pounds lighter. It is our desire and goal to put an end to this unnecessary (controllable) suffering.

The people we are dedicated to helping are the Raramuri (Tarahumara) Indians, an indigenous tribe numbering around 75,000 to 100,000. These precious people live in the mountains, canyons and valleys of the western Sierra Madres Mts of Chihuahua, Mexico. We help through hand drilled wells, developing existing water sources, water projects to improve existing systems and sanitary bathrooms. We seek to involve not only the people of the villages, but also short term mission groups, youth groups, men's groups and missionary teams, so all can share in this life giving outreach.

We are seeking churches, individuals or humanitarian groups to donate toward the purchase of a water well drilling rig capable of penetrating the rock common to this area. The donation of a complete well drilling rig would be the best option for us. This donation would mean the difference between life and death for the Tarahumara.

How will drilling wells help?
Clean, safe drinking water is a human being's most basic need. It's the difference between health and disease, prosperity and poverty, and life and death. By supporting the drilling of local water wells, you will help provide clean, safe water for the Tarahumara who wouldn't have it otherwise; it reduces disease because it comes from a verified clean source; it helps reduce poverty because the hours that would have been spent hauling water over long distances can now be spent building the community and escaping the cycle of disease and death.

100% of your donations go directly to Creel, Mexico to fund "Highways and Hedges Water Ministry to the Tarahumara". All donations are tax deductible through our home church, Church of the Crossroads in Corinth, Mississippi - a 501 C-3 non profit organization.

Please contact us with any questions you may have.
