September / October News
We wanted to give all of you an update on the water project for the El Salto community that was started when Mike and Sandy Green along with Joe and Becky Wells came down this past July. If you remember we had to stop work on this project because the pump we had would not lift the water up to where we needed it. As of the month of September we now have the funds to purchase the water pump needed to finish this project. Special thanks go out to Pastor Mark Briggs and Riverpark Church in Shreveport, La and Jim Frazier of Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church of St. Joseph, Mo. for providing the funds to purchase the pump we were needing. Work has been started again on this water project. Over the past month we have been working with the men of the village to get the first of two water cisterns built. This tank will hold 5,663 liters (1496 gallons) of water, the next one we need to build will hold 9,712 liters (2,565 gallons). On September 26th, we finished the first tank, leaving only the one at the bottom of the canyon to be constructed. Be sure to check the website, there are a lot of new pictures showing the construction of the water tank. We will not be able to start the other water tank until after the first of the year because we will be returning to Mississippi to bring Monica back for her spinal surgery. We will need to stay in Corinth during the time she will wear a special brace after her surgery. Her doctor said she would have to wear it for 8 weeks. She will be getting it off right around the Christmas holidays, so we will be there till after Christmas. We will be leaving for Mississippi on Sunday 7th of October so Monica can spend a little time with friends and family before her surgery. It will take us three days of traveling to get to Corinth from here in Creel, we will be staying at Shelly's parents (Mike and Sandy Green) during this time. The Missions yard sale was a great success! Thanks go out to everyone who donated items to sell and helped in some way. We hate that we weren't there to help and thank you all personally. The funds raised during this sale will go to finish the El Salto water project and to start and maybe finish another project. For November we are praying about the possibility of Mike Green, Joe Wells and I (Ryan) returning here to Creel to do a well project for the Tarahumara Outreach Center. If any men are interested in going with us please let us know.
We will see you all soon...
