Village of Yaguirachi

Yaguirachi is located in the mountains south of Creel. It will take you approximately an hour and a half to get there. We began ministering in this village in August of 2009. On our first trip out to the village, the people hid from us. We introduced ourselves to the village comisario (leader, chief) explaining who we were and what we would like to do. We shared with him our vision of providing their village with reliable clean drinking water and to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those interested in learning. Almost two years have now gone by and with that many wonderful friendships have been made. We are now averaging 70+ people (men, women and children) who come each Saturday to our village outreach.

We have classes for each of the different age groups of that come, from the small toddlers to older adults. The women are being taught embroidery classes to help supplement their family income. The men are being taught Biblical family values and how to lead and love their families. Plans are also in the works to begin carpentry classes with them to teach them a marketable trade. We also involve the men in the ongoing village water projects to promote a sense of ownership so that they will be more likely to care of it in the future.
